4.5 Hours
Qualifying – Chris.
22nd out of 35. Kart was under steering in practice and in qualifying so it was a good effort from Chris to do a 50.2.
Race – Gil started:
Kart bogged down off the start (clutch’s maybe, so Gil says). Dropped back several places in the first half of the race, kart just would not turn. All 3 drivers doing mid 50’s while the head of the pack where doing 48’s. Second half of the race the kart started to handle better and times where in the low 50’s high 49’s, the track was coming to us or the tyres started to work better. Talked to a couple of other teams about tyre pressures and was told we had the right pressure 22 front, 23 back. So the kart was getting better as the tyres wore (Gil’s theory). after 4 hours 15 minutes and fighting for positions 11 and 12 our luck ran out once again. Broken bloody muffler, flagged in and replaced with spare but lost several laps and ended up finishing 16th.
Summary:
Kart gets better as the race goes on, need to work out why there is no grip on new tyres and to get more speed out of it in qualifying. All in all very pleasing effort by all 3 drivers. Disappointed not to finish higher but hopefully at the next round we will have better luck. Still had a lot of fun!
