Another big weekend of great racing. Team Canberra did a lot of testing on Saturday with kart setup and I think we tried every possible combination in an attempt to get a kart that felt good and was anywhere near quick. It took all day and a lot of advise from other teams before we landed on a good set-up. I should say much thanks to our new team member Rob for his knowledge and experience (and laser aligner). Rob brought a new set of eyes to our kart and with his experience was able to give us a great set-up.
With the new tyres on we had a really good kart from the start to the finish of the race. 40 minutes stints felt like 20 minute stints because the kart was so easy to drive. We had a good race, slowing working our way up through the field and with 5 laps to go we were in 8th place outright and 3rd in B grade. BUT……..we then lost a chain which put us back 2 laps and 5th in B grade at the finish. It shows how tight the competition is in B grade this year though and it will only take 1 failure to cost us 2,3,4,5, positions in the placings.
Big thanks to everyone for great racing and another really well run meeting.
I would also like to take this oportunity to thank in particular Karen,Steve and Warren who put in several hours of work setting up on Saturday when they should have been working on their kart. Without this dedication we simply could not have the race meetings we have. Next time you see them working on race setup duties maybe ask if there is anything you can do to help.
Cheers
Eric
