Endurance Karting

Endurance Karting from the perspective of Team Canberra

Canberra Thoughts

Canberra…what a place..I reckon we should hold at least 2 rounds here next year :-)

It is a deceptive little track that on first appearances gives the illusion of boredom, but it has a few bites in it that make it a most enjoyable track to race at. I too have to thank the canteen (Brett and his family) and Mark the track manager for their cooperation and willingness to help run the day…it was superb guys..well done.

For Kart 88 we had a good weekend, all things considered. Thanks to AyDee we were able to source a motor with only 1 week to get it prepped and on the kart. We used Friday to run it in and tune the rest of the kart ready for race day. As it turned out everything was working well for us and we were able to post a respectable qualifying (9th on the grid).

The race went well and we had plenty of speed and a little track knowledge to be able to keep good position and pace for a good part of the race. During a fuel stop we noticed the side pod was really loose and quickly discovered the side pod frame had snapped. After putting the kart on the trolley and then me crashing the trolley, dropping the kart off, much to everyones amusement :-) we put some cable ties and gaff tape on and we were back out but dropped around 15 or more laps.

The rest of the race went well and we made our way back from 18th to eventually finish 13th outright (6th in B grade I think ?). Gil, Ceej and Rob all drove really consistently and put in some fast laps. My thanks go to them for making it a great day.

And then the drive home……..well, minutes later I dragged myself into my house and flopped onto the coach…what a trip !!
