Changes to Team Canberra
Chris ‘Ceej’ Johnson is leaving Team Canberra and is joining the Navy. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Chris all the best in his new career and thank him for all his efforts over the past 2 seasons. He made it easier for both me and Eric with his support and his impeccable driving ability. He is very easier on the kart and was a pleasure to have around, all the best Chris and thankyou. I hope we will still get to see him at the track when ever he manages to get a weekend off from his naval duties.
I also have raced my last race for 2009. Due to family commitments that clash with race dates (2 more grandchildren on the way [no not twins]) and a minor operation, I won’t be racing again this year. Eric and Rob still plan to compete at some of the remaining rounds but at this stage not sure if it will be for Team Canberra or one of the other teams who are looking for drivers.
Thanks to all involved in Team Canberra and to all those that have helped us out this year. Thanks to Rob Towell who joined the team this year, his knowledge of kart setup and racing tactics have been the difference this year, it is why we are now finishing at the pointy end of the field rather than the blunt end, thanks Rob.
The time off will not be wasted. I plan to do some upgrades to the kart, a lot more testing, possibly new Briggs and Stratton motors depending on how the teams that are currently running them fair for the remainder of the year. And most importantly, what feedback we get from the TEKA committee regarding the questions we have raised on the future of the Briggs and Stratton motors in the TEKA series for 2010.
So bring on 2010, see you all next year.
